Blast furnace slag is a type of waste residue discharged from the blast furnace during the smelting of pig iron. It is a fusible mixture that can be processed into valuable materials with multiple uses through various processes. Due to changes in the variety and composition of ironmaking raw materials, as well as the influence of operational factors, the composition and properties of slag are also different. According to the variety of smelting pig iron, blast furnace slag can be divided into cast pig iron slag, steelmaking pig iron slag, and special pig iron slag. According to the amount of alkaline oxides in the chemical composition of blast furnace slag, it can be further divided into alkaline slag, neutral slag, and acidic slag.
