The Development Process Of Slag Powder

The comprehensive utilization of slag in the cement industry mainly goes through three stages:

In the first stage (before 1995), granulated blast furnace slag was mainly used as a cement mixture. Mainly using mixed grinding. Due to its difficulty in grinding, the amount of slag added to cement is limited and generally does not exceed 30%.

In the second stage (1995-2000), I studied foreign technology and promoted the use of slag powder as a high admixture for high-performance concrete in construction projects. But it is required that the specific surface area of slag powder should reach 600m2/kg or above, and there are only a few domestic grinding stations producing it. The main reason is that imported equipment is expensive and production line investment is considerable.

The most economical grinding fineness of slag powder in the third stage (after 2000) should be controlled at around 400m2/kg. This type of slag powder can be directly supplied to the concrete mixing plant as an admixture, and can also be combined with clinker and gypsum powder to synthesize high content slag cement. With the rapid development of the economy, which has reached nearly 100 million tons per year, the production of slag powder has doubled year by year, forming an emerging industry in China for the production of building materials.
