What is the difference between steel slag and blast furnace slag?

1. Steel slag: Steel slag is the waste generated in the metallurgical industry. Composed of various oxides formed by the oxidation of impurities such as silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur in pig iron during the smelting process, as well as salts formed by the reaction of these oxides with solvents.
2. Blast furnace slag: a byproduct in the ironmaking process of a blast furnace. In the process of ironmaking, iron oxide is reduced to metallic iron. Impurities such as silica and alumina in iron ore react with lime to form molten materials mainly composed of silicates and silicoaluminates. After quenching and cooling, they become loose and porous granular materials, which are called blast furnace slag.

1. Steel slag: Steel slag contains various useful components: 2% to 8% metallic iron, 40% to 60% calcium oxide, 3% to 10% magnesium oxide, and 1% to 8% manganese oxide. Therefore, it can be used as a raw material for steel metallurgy.
2. Blast furnace slag: The chemical composition of slag includes oxides such as CaO, SiO ₂, Al ₂ O ₂, MgO, MnO, Fe ₂ O ₂, and small amounts of sulfides such as CaS and MnS. Generally speaking, the content of CaO, SiO ₂, and Al ₂ O ₂ accounts for more than 90%.
Different uses:
1. Steel slag: There are two main ways to comprehensively utilize steel slag as a secondary resource. One is to recycle it as a smelting solvent in our factory. It can not only replace limestone, but also recover a large amount of metal iron and other useful elements from it; Another is used as raw materials for manufacturing road construction materials, building materials, or agricultural fertilizers.
2. Blast furnace slag: In industrial production, slag plays an important role, especially in some major factories. Slag is refined and processed into slag cement, slag micro powder, slag powder, slag silicate cement, slag cotton, blast furnace slag, granulated blast furnace slag powder, copper slag, and slag vertical mill.
