Deepening research on Chinese steel slag
1) A deep understanding of the composition and properties of steel slag provides a theoretical basis for the development and utilization of steel slag.
2) Strengthen the research on steel slag treatment technology to solve the problem of free calcium oxide (f-CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO) contained in steel slag being prone to expansion when exposed to water. Additionally, due to the relatively low content of Ca, Si, and Al in steel slag, the total amount of silicate formed is significantly different from that of cement clinker (nearly 45%).
3) By promoting the application technology of steel slag as a smelting (sintering, blast furnace, steelmaking) flux, it is possible to fully utilize the iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese and other components contained in it, while also saving a lot of energy. Strengthen research on steel slag as backfill and road construction materials.
4) Due to the complete crystallization of dicalcium silicate and tricalcium silicate minerals in steel slag, the coarse and dense grains make it difficult to achieve the required fineness during grinding. So, the difficulty in manufacturing high-performance steel slag micro powder lies in developing special grinding processes and equipment for steel slag.
